The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models This mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an intuitive mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however, it's more expensive and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using one pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that vacuum and mop that we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app also gives access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
