WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an
item upgrade by 3. A random additional substat is also increased with each upgrade.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The
item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new gear. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items that can be used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and other items. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show the preview of an item's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the
item level upgrade and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.
Upgraders for items are available in many places, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades are acquired via a variety of means that are both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a particular level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will be less expensive, even when they are part of another set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
Players have a variety of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests can only be spent on gear of a specific rank, and every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the more complex one may require as many as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in any difficulty to earn equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader for the item like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the
item level upgrade in the proper steps and pathways.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it brings some changes to the upgrade process. For instance, once an
item upgrading reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests with care, since they only have one use. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment you have and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan to make. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
