WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also added to every upgrade.
Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.
The upgrader is located in every major city, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
The cost of upgrades will depend on the current
item upgrader mod level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using the help of The button will show the
item upgrades's next upgrade level in the event that there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For example weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each
upgrade items costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an
item Level upgrade is upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and the chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded, and can be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an
item level upgrade upgrader at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was altered a bit, with some new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a certain level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less even if they belong to a different gear set.
The discount is available to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
Players have several options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific
item upgrader mod level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is of a particular rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex can require as much as 20 crests, based on the type of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by completing content of the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
Utilizing these new currencies isn't too complicated however, the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
Another important change is that crests only have one use, so it's important to use them wisely. It's best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character that will be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all of the slots are full of high-quality equipment.
