World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and damage from PvE.

If the template for upgrading a weapon ends in %, it will gain 3percent of its previous damage every time it's upgraded.

Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost increases as the item's level rises.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a stat boost or an extra effect. These can be obtained by making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot for them; the item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level for a component to be inserted. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a particular type of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade can have a prefix or suffix changing the name of the item to which it is used (for instancethe 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, which allows players to create stronger versions of the equipment that require fewer Upgrade Crystals than would be required to reach the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defence characteristics of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades are available for purchase them in the cash shop or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other gear.

The player is able to have a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will drop during the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear even if they are unsure what can be improved upon an update.

If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be expensive, and there is a substantial chance that the item could be obsolete or even break when it fails. A failed upgrade will ruin the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the possibility of failure. Some upgrades also give a bonus if reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes in their radius, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded various ways, and we suggest getting them up to level 15 whenever you can.

In the endgame, you will often find that the best way to enhance your gear is by placing Glyphs. These are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded up to level 15 and offer a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

Glyphs, the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and then replaced with no restrictions, are the most common. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can choose to replace it with a different Glyph with the same rank or higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase them with certain tools that are unlimited in use, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

After you have acquired the desired Glyphs you will require them to be put on your equipment. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that can boost the stats of a particular set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.

Glyphs will increase the number of nodes connected to them, therefore it is Best item upgrader to put Glyphs in the most important locations on the Graph. This will increase the impact. Druids, for instance should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may be able to place them near their most critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrading system allows players to improve the effectiveness of certain items by placing upgraded components in them. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item has an amount that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled until they reach a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each item level requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained from completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or obtained from NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns several Technology Points. These points can be used for leveling up an item. When enough points have been earned you will be able to claim your upgrade and also receive the bonuses.

When the player upgrades an item it is replaced by a new item upgrades of the same kind. The same armor will receive the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also comes with its own set of bonuses. This can be a disadvantage in that it could make the item more expensive, even if you don't need it.

The upgrades to items can be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to do so. This causes the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, which will have an initial level and a different set of bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, however it's not something that should be done regularly, as it could waste many resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled several times to increase their value, allowing the player to customize their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants buffs when the player continuously enters or exits the water. This item can be upgraded several times and increases the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item is extremely useful in PvP battles, since the best version of it can be worth between 20 and 50x its value without being upgraded.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to boost the level of their available equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrading armor set pieces will also increase the base defense of the item, and upgrading weapon items will increase the base damage and required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception of hero gear which can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Every time you upgrade an object, it is at risk of failing. The rate of failure increases when you exceed the maximum number. Failures can result in the item reverting to its initial state, which will force the user to pay more for materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.

If an item is not upgraded, the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero. In addition the item will be deducted any gained bonuses, including crit chance and attack damage, as well as all additional effects associated with the effect (for example, increased heal over time or reload speed). However, the player can still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon gains an increase in its crit chance, the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute called Slots is now added to the item definition and the value is recomputed each time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost for upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade--for example, a common equipment item may have five upgrades at a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will come with a much lower cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items might have different upgrade requirements from standard gear. For example, they may need less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons.
