WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The
item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.
The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the
item upgrader kit being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool with the help of button, which displays a preview of the item at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an
item level upgrade is upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Upgraders for items can be found in many places, including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and the chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety means. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and numerous new features added. After an upgrade has been completed to a certain level of item for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This applies even if those items are from another set of equipment.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to
upgrade items is reduced also, but is only available once certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
Players have several options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests can only be spent on equipment of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complicated can require as much as 20 crests based on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it will bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
Another notable modification is that crests have one purpose and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance, it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the
Best item upgrade equipment you have and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan to make. This is especially true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, that will be able to avail the discount for all accounts when all slots are full of high-quality gear.
