Both robots are adept in removing dirt and dust particles on floors and carpets and are able to navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots that we evaluated, the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features, so it may get stuck on things such as socks or power cords, and it can have difficulty in navigating through transitions between surfaces, such as from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it might encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clear so they don't become clogged with dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station, and it automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station's dust bin. Then it continues cleaning where it left off. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for approximately an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes around three hours to recharge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the latest technology. It's self-charging, self-navigating and the most important feature of all -- it has a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that allows it to create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and direct your robot by voice or via the app.

The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin that eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning session, move itself around the room and vacuum the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a world of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum robot in the majority of households and can fit perfectly next to the table for a coffee or the bookshelf, where you can wave it around like a magic tool.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide fade-free power for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and collect large particles or fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to meet the task at hand. It is able to quickly switch between handheld and floor vacuum and vice versa.

The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have lots of money to invest in an expensive robot. It was able to pick up most types of debris and sizes in our tests, and frequently went over the same area several times to give an efficient clean. Its flat front side helps it reach into corners and along the edges of walls and walls, which is a nice touch.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, such as our top picks, the i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. It also feels more sturdy, has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on bare floors and low-pile carpet, while offering a wider range of automation options.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It removed 86% of dog hair (on carpet). However, it didn't do particularly well at avoiding taller objects like cords and socks which was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than the other models we tested, which might be a deterrent for some buyers.
