Costs
There are a few expenses associated with item upgrades. The first is the cost for the upgrade. It can be costly and is dependent on the new value of the item and the number of perks it gets. Upgrades to higher levels (such as Explorer to Champion or Veteran to Heroic) are costly.
The other is the cost of the materials needed for an upgrade. These items are usually Power Dices (dropped from monsters 21+), Minerals and Erons or specific Mists Of Pandaria or Warlords Of Draenor Quests. The amount of these materials needed can be found in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.
