A
Small Bedside Cot That Attaches to Your Adult Bed
A bedside crib will allow you to keep your baby close during the night, without needing to get up. The fabric is breathable and allows you to see your baby easily and they are easy to lower when you require an early feeding.
Some double as a moses basket, as well.
What is a bedside crib?
A bedside crib, also referred as a bassinet or co-sleeper is a baby
cot bedside that is attached to an adult bed. This allows your
newborn bedside cot to sleep right next to you in a safe environment. This is a safe form of co-sleeping that doesn't increase the risk of SIDS, like bedsharing. It also helps you bond with the new baby.
The cots usually come with a side that can be raised, so you can easily reach your newborn during the night for feeding and comforting. This is particularly helpful for mothers recovering from a c section. Many of them are mobile or foldable, which means you can take them on trips and use them as a sleeping option for babies who aren't ready to transition to a larger cot.
Look for a crib with a mattress that is breathable, as well as an extra-safe cover that will protect your baby from stains. You might also want to buy baby-safe accessories such as an infant blanket or a teether.
If you are looking for a more long-term solution cribs are available with conversion kits that allow you to transform them into a toddler bed or cot at the time that is appropriate. This is a great way to extend their life and making the transition smoother. Some come with a removable section at the top that can be transformed into the bassinet. Other models can be used with an adult bed that is standard or a high-rise model. This is an excellent choice for families that are planning to travel frequently or change between bedrooms in the evening. You should also consider the size of your bedroom to ensure that you can squeeze the crib in comfortably. A lot of cribs have a riser which can be used to create an inclined position for babies who suffer from reflux.
The Joie Roomie Glide
The Roomie Glide, a bedside crib manufactured by the English brand Joie, is a great addition to their range of high-quality products for infants. The co-sleeper was created to help parents connect and sleep side-by-side with their babies without sharing the same bed. It's loaded with features that make bonding between parents and baby secure, easy, and fun.
A gentle rocking motion can be activated by pressing the button. This will help soothe your baby to sleep with a gentle rhythm that doesn't disturb their natural sleeping routine. This is great for toddlers and older babies who struggle to settle. It can aid in digestive issues such as colic and reflux.
The crib can also be attached to the side of the bed using an attachment strap and clip. This makes the crib very sturdy and secure, allowing you to sleep comfortably without fearing that your baby will roll off into the middle. The rounded cocoon shape comes with soft padded sides and double mesh windows at both ends to allow for plenty of airflow while protecting your baby.
The mattress comes with a comfortable and firm and has a removable cover. The crib is easy to set up and disassemble thanks to the lightweight aluminum frame that makes it extremely portable. The four wheels that are rubber-covered and lockable ensure that the crib will not leave marks on your flooring and is easy to move. The crib is easy to clean due to the wipeable woven fabric and is easily put in bags for overnight stays.
The TuttiBambini Air
Created to be a safe crib for babies from birth to six months, this superior model has rocking bars and castors for ease of movement. The premium airflow mattresses offer an ideal sleeping surface while the ventilation panels keep your baby cool. There are 6 different height settings, including an incline option to help with reflux and congestion.
Contrary to some cribs that are placed on the bed that can be difficult to clean due to their incessant stream of snot and dribble The Tutti Bambini CoZee Air comes with a wipe-clean lining and fabric that can be removed to wash in the machine. It also has an upper bar that is easily lowered to feed at night without having to search for zips in the dark.
Anna found that the CoZee was a comfortable and safe sleeping space for her infant. She liked that it didn't move like other models, which meant she wasn't woken up in the night trying to soothe her baby for feedings. She also loved that the sides of the chair was lowered so she didn't have to reach over her partner to lift the child out to feed them at night.
The CoZee is available in charcoal and oak and is a chic addition to the bedroom. It's more modern than other cribs we've tried, which are often quite utilitarian. It's also light at just 11kg. It also comes with a carry-on case that allows you to take it with you on vacation or even when you move house. It's all you need to buy is an extra waterproof sheet and safety strap to sleep with your partner. There are step-by-step directions and illustrations to help you put it together when you first open the box which makes it a single-person job when needed.
The Maxi-Cosi lora
The Iora is a bassinet for the bed that allows parents to feel more connected to their infant as they sleep. It can be adjusted both up and down, and moved through three different slide positions to fit beside the bed of the parent or in the corner to ensure that the infant is always in reach. The mesh siding lets air flow through, and allows you to see your baby easily. You can also store extra pajamas and supplies in the large storage basket underneath.
The Iora is a smaller
bedside cot co sleeper crib that can fold flat. It also comes with a travel bag which allows it to be taken anywhere. It was easy to move from room to room, and our mum testers felt it was the perfect size for a bedside crib. The large storage basket is perfect for storing extra bedding or nappies.
This is a great choice for parents who wish to co-sleep but don't want to share their bed. Also, if one of the parents has mobility issues such as arthritis or back pain. Our mom testers loved the ease with which they could access their baby in the Iora and that it had an optional reflux incline that helped reduce gas.
Our mums love that it follows NICE guidelines. These include placing the baby in a Moses basket or crib on its own without toys, blankets or pillows. The mattress is also a good firm and comfortable for babies and sheets are easily available. It's not as light as other cribs for
bedside travel cot use however and if you're looking for something lighter and more portable, look at other options in our list.
