Private ADHD Titration

There is currently a national shortage of medication that helps to treat ADHD symptoms. This is due both to manufacturing problems as well as an increased global demand.

Our service is private ADHD titration instead of waiting for NHS funding via Right to Choose. Our fees for assessments include the cost of one prescription.

Titration

A highly experienced psychiatrist consultant will conduct a thorough assessment of your ADHD. This includes a complete medical history, and an assessment using the typical ADHD questionnaires and rating scales.

After your evaluation After your assessment, you will be informed whether medication is appropriate for your situation. This will take place at your follow up appointment (which can be done in person via video link or via phone). Your physician will explain to you what is titration in adhd medication options are available and, if you choose to start on medication we will offer to titrate the dose to optimise the benefits/side effects balance for you.

This process may take several weeks, and it involves gradually altering your child’s medication until the proper balance is reached. It's not uncommon to to titrate up to three different medications before you can find the one that best suits your child's ADHD. It's important for parents to take part in this process of titration period adhd, and keep an eye on their child's behaviour, so that they can inform the doctor if the medicine is helping or causing side effects.

If you decide to return to NHS treatment, you will receive a private prescription for your medication. You will be required to pay the pharmacy. This is not included in the consultation fee. You will be required to attend regular appointments every six months to monitor your medication - this includes blood pressure and pulse readings. Annual reviews are also required.

Follow-up appointments

Once the assessment is completed, you can schedule appointment with the psychiatrist. The appointment will usually be conducted by video conference using zoom. In some cases, it may be possible to have an audio-only consultation to be scheduled (again at an additional cost).

At this point, we will discuss treatment options and come up with a unique ADHD medication titration program. This will include a review of your medication dosage as well as an examination of any side effects you might be experiencing. These titrations cost PS150 for face-to-face sessions, and PS60 via telephone or video consultation. Medication costs are additional and are paid directly to the pharmacy.

The psychiatrist will ask you questions regarding your family history and the effects of your ADHD symptoms on your daily life and any relationship problems or mental health issues you might be experiencing. ADHD can be a hereditary condition, so it's important to look into your family's history in order to determine if you're at a greater risk of developing this disorder.

It is important to be honest and truthful with your doctor during this evaluation, as the information they get will be used to determine whether your ADHD fits the diagnostic criteria. This is an important step because the wrong diagnosis can result in an inappropriate prescription of medication.

If you've decided that you would like to be treated for your ADHD, we will then set up a follow-up appointment with one of our psychiatrists who specialise in this field. If you'd like to begin treatment right away you can start treatment immediately following the diagnosis. Or you can wait two weeks to consider the implications of the diagnosis and the options available to you.

We suggest that if you are unsure of your preferences, talk to your GP prior to scheduling your private assessment. Certain providers have different policies regarding whether or not they require a GP letter. We also suggest that you check whether your GP accepts a 'Shared Care Agreement', which means that after you have been discharged from the clinic, you will be returned to them for the prescription for medication.

Medication

Medication is an integral aspect of the treatment process for many who are looking for a private ADHD diagnosis. It can be difficult to get a prescription from a psychiatrist on the NHS. NHS waiting lists can be notoriously long and GPs may be reluctant to refer patients to specialist services.

One method to circumvent this is to request your GP to refer you to Right to Choose (see psychiatry-uk and ADHD 360). This means that you can select an organization that offers an assessment and titration service. This will cut down your waiting time by a significant amount and is more convenient when you are working and have a hectic schedule.

After you've been identified as a candidate for this treatment, your chosen clinician will assess you and decide whether or not you need to be monitored for a dose of medication. You will be asked to fill in forms that are different for each provider, but the main ones are self-report forms and medical histories from childhood to adulthood. These will help your clinician determine any issues that could suggest you should not take ADHD medications if they're prescribed.

If you are being titrated the medication will consist of a mixture of stimulants and non-stimulant drugs. The combination will be carefully tested and monitored to determine the most suitable combination for you, taking into consideration any current conditions you suffer from. The titration process can be lengthy and may require a number of additional appointments before you are stable.

The frequency of your follow-up appointments is contingent on the type and quantity of medication you are taking. They could be scheduled monthly or quarterly. Your clinician will check whether you are safe with the medication, document any side effects that you have experienced and make any necessary adjustments to ensure that you remain on a safe dose. You are required to attend an annual review as well as a routine health examination which includes pulse, blood pressure, and weight measurements.

Some people may be satisfied with their treatment and don't have to discuss their titration process further. If you're looking to discuss your titration plan or treatment plan further it is possible that you will be referred back to the private titration adhd clinic who made your initial assessment. If this occurs, the titration appointment will be part of their consultation fee and they will receive their medication through an individual prescription (see Consultation fees above). It could cost more than an NHS prescription since the pharmacy will charge for the medication.
