They also come with carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot vacuum that mops's power when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good deal for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and works while you are at work or in school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a good cleaning job on a variety of flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we've not seen on other robot mop automatic vacuum and mop/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit which could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some extra cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features to help you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty those areas are.

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would imagine from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or create the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we have test. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
