UPVC Replacement Door HandlesThe handles on your doors get worn out over time and will need to be replaced. It is essential to be able to match the dimensions of the old handles when replacing them.
The three measurements to be inspected are the top screw's location the lever and key hole sizes. Use the size guide to help with this.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever handle is a modern-day door handle designed to suit new or replacement doors. This type door handle is available in a variety of styles & finishes. A variety of manufacturers provide this type of handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The handles of uPVC/Composite are constructed from durable materials, and are perfect for doors with multiple points that need a heavy-duty design. The handles are inline and operate with the same spindle as well as screw fixings so they are easily installed on doors made of uPVC/Composite, either new or old.
The spring lever design allows the handle to be positioned and angled for comfortable operation and is suitable for all users. The handle has been endurance-tested to 200 000 cycles. This helps ensure that the finish is of high quality and performance will last for a long time. The lever that is sprung can be cut to fit a wider range of locks. This is useful in doors that are narrower, where the cylinder is situated further back in the door. A shorter lever is a good choice for doors that have latches that can be activated by the thumb turn on the inside.
Lever Pad
The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles used on the majority of doors. These handle types are either operated by one spindle or two spindles, inline or offset. They are usually utilized on UPVC
bi-fold doors handles with
double glazed handles glazing. They are available in a range of finishes & variations.
The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200k cycles and are available in a variety of finishes like White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This provides the handle with the best performance and durability to serve its intended use.
All of the UPVC handle lever pad styles come with a spindle and screws that allow them to be installed on an existing or new uPVC door. The backplate fixation centres of 211mm allow for a wider handle, which is usually an advantage when replacing an old or faulty multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers are spring-loaded, which solves the issue of door handles sagging from their horizontal position when not in use.
When choosing a replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement is often called the 'handle centre' or 'cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect to match the appropriate handles.
Once you have decided on the correct PZ size and the correct PZ size, you must ensure that the lever and push pads are designed to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant
window handles replacement that you need for your door. They are usually rectangular or round in design with an internal lever as well as an external push pad.
The majority of UPVC Lever Pads we sell are spring-loaded. This means they return to a horizontal position after not being used instead of hanging, and possibly securing to the frame. This stops draughts from entering the building. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles come in both left and right handed models, allowing them to be put on either side of doors.
euro door handles Cylinder
Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. Cylinder locks are operated by a key which unlocks the cylinder case. This exposes pins that can be aligned with the pins in the lock, allowing them to rotate the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.
The choice of the correct cylinder is crucial; it is contingent on how your doors and handle are used. External doors, for instance should be equipped with cylinders that are more secure while internal doors can be secured using a standard cylinder. Some cylinders have extra features that can increase security, for instance, anti-drill or anti bump properties.
To ensure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the screw hole at the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, should there be one. It is best to do this while the lock is in place, but if this is not possible, you can remove it to measure. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon might be susceptible to attacks like lock snapping, so it is essential to make sure it's not too long.
The design of the latest cylinders comes with anti-drilling as well as bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce attack chances by forcing the cylinders to rotate in a new direction. This helps stop the attack and keep your doors safe.
There are cylinders that have been constructed to resist snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and then the front of cylinder is snapped off. This is a lot faster and easier to achieve than opening the door with multipoint locks and leaves little evidence of a burglary, which can hinder the insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
This spring cassette sits within the base of your door handle backplate, providing a spring solution and returning your multipoint lock handles to their rest position after use. In the past, a lot of handles of this kind did not have a spring integrated into them and without this they tend to droop or 'drop' once the locking mechanism has been disengaged. This component is the best way to address this issue. It also prevents your door from becoming stuck in either the open or closed position as they aren't easy to close manually.
These spring cassettes are specifically designed to be used with multipoint locks that are sprung but they won't work with non-sprung multipoint
handles for doors. You will need to have a hole specifically cut in your backplate to allow these to fit (please check the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes are a solution to broken or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They feature a square cut-out that allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and they are supplied individually.
These spring cassettes provide an excellent value solution to the problem of door handles that are sagging. They are easy to fit and will prolong the life span of your uPVC doors.
