The Band Toto Asia
Toto was expanding its production facilities abroad and doing business in France, Germany, Indonesia, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and the People's Republic of China. North America was seen as an opportunity to grow for Washlet toilets and bidet seats, as opposed its "base" markets in Japan and China.
Dhaniram Toto was documenting Toto words to ensure the future generations would be able to read them. However, many words were replaced with foreign words, such as dui from Bengali for 토지노

Origins
Incorporated in 1917, Toto's early years were a mirror of Japan's economic growth. In the beginning of its existence, the company manufactured products to meet the demand for modern and contemporary urban housing. To achieve this, it employed the first tunnel kiln in the nation to produce ceramics in continuous flow. It also pioneered the use of automation for production control, allowing greater efficiency and consistency.
In the late 1980s the company began to expand outwards to profit from sales and new markets. The company created the Cera Trading Company to import and distribute other manufacturers' products to complement its own range of sanitary earthenwares and plumbing fittings. This strategy increased sales and increased the firm's market share in the world.
By the 1990s, Toto had shifted its emphasis on research and development for water-related household appliances. It also improved its distribution system to better serve customers and improve profit. The company embraced a just-in time method of managing supply chains and applied the same methodology for its sales process. This resulted in a greater level of customer satisfaction.
Toto continues to invent toilet technology. The latest toilet from the company features a strong, eco-friendly tornado flush. Toto also makes use of recycled water in its manufacturing process and has a green purchasing policy. Apart from toilets, Toto manufactures faucets and bathtubs and hand dryers that are more efficient in energy use than conventional models.
The first Toto museum opened in the year 2015. It hosts exhibits on the most iconic products of Toto and their evolution, the group companies (all of which are ceramics) as well as the history of plumbing and even bath units. In a separate gallery you can see Toto products that are sold across the world. The museum even includes a bathroom with a WASHLET toilet and other toilet-related innovations.
Before the formation of Toto members of the group did sessions with various musicians. Keyboardist David Paich, drummer Jeff Porcaro, and guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather all performed on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs. They also performed on albums by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.
Discography
With a name like Asia, you would expect the group to be prog queens and kings however, it's actually a pretty straight forward rock band. The band was initially a four-piece and released two albums: 1979's self-titled debut and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. But even though the band have a variety of musical backgrounds, their biggest success was achieved in 1982 with Toto IV.
The album was a major blockbuster, but it was not without its share of problems. Record companies put the band on place with the directive "give us an album that is a success or we'll take you off the market" and the pressure was on them to deliver. Luckily for Toto, they did, with the assistance of the smash single "Africa."
Toto's musical mastery is due to their prior experience since the members had been session musicians for artists such as Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, and Seals and Crofts prior the group. Their sonic trademark has become the standard of '80s music, influencing many contemporary artists.
The album begins with a hefty dose of hard rock with tracks like Running Out of Time and Unknown Soldier showcasing the bands ability to write amazing AOR songs that slowly work their hooks into your. The album also includes some jazzier, slower tracks like The Little Things and

After Toto IV the band's fortunes began to decline. David Hungate left the band to focus on his solo career and the band had several drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball left the group due to drug charges. The band continued to play with Michael Porcaro, Steve Lukather and Michael Porcaro.
Toto released Isolation despite the turbulence. It wasn't as popular as IV. The group managed to release a chart-topping album, Kingdom of Desire, in 1992. The album was the last of Toto's lineup and the debut of Simon Phillips,

Line-up
Turn Back, the band's third studio album, was an attempt to return to the traditional sextet style, and a more consistent, stronger effort that had a more grittier edge. The more edgy sound of the album was a reflection of the maturation of the group, with drummer Bobby Kimball's increased ability on the drums and a more mature, confident vocal delivery from singer Joseph Williams. David Paich's work was more refined, sharper, and less derivative than previously recorded recordings.
After touring to promote their album, the group recorded the band's Amsterdam live concert which was released on Eagle Records as a 2-CD set titled Falling In Between. The group released a brand new studio album just a few months after and embarked on a world tour support it. During this time keyboardist Greg Phillinganes replaced Paich and bassist David Hungate quit the group to spend time with his family.
In 1998, Paich and Lukather started exploring old demo tapes and tapes to make an album that would feature songs that had never been recorded before. The album was released in the form of a double-album called Then And Now in 2001. It was the first album in the history of the band that did not include one single track with the word "A" in its title and it included one previously unreleased track, "Kari-Anne".
By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The group's fourth album, Old Is New, was a commercial failure and singer Williams suffered from a bad laryngitis infection that limited his singing abilities. Hungate also returned to Nashville and Leland Sklar's drumming duties were replaced by Shem Von Schroeck.
Downes and the other original members of Asia - Wetton, Palmer, and Howe--convened a meeting in England in early 2006 to discuss the possibility of formally restructuring the band. The lineup, with the exception of Howe who was working with Yes at the period, was later renamed Toto XIV. They toured extensively.
In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The group also had a guest appearance by singer Michael McDonald, and a backing singer named Mabvuto Carpenter.
