They're easy to open and close, but I found their textured plastic coatings to be a bit rough on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes the all the features you'd expect from a refrigerator in this price range with Wi-Fi and app support via GE's SmartHQ software. The app, available for iOS and Android devices allows you to control your refrigerator from anywhere in the world, and has a ton of customization options. It is nice to have GE PYE22PYNFS offered Precise fill which is a feature that is available in a few GE refrigerators that allows users to select how many cups they want to disperse. The fridge displays a countdown timer to reveal how much water remains, but it's not as effective as Precise Fill.

This fridge was the top-rated refrigerator in our Refrigerators test, for various reasons. The freezer temperature remained steady at just above 0°F and never changed more than a fraction - this is crucial to prevent freezer burn. The fridge section of the fridge also performed well, reaching the desired temperature for initial set within an hour and maintaining the temperature constant over the course of our testing.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S is a top counter-depth refrigerator that packs a lot of storage space into an extremely compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. The fridge is built with a standard French door layout, with two rows of shelving with spill-capture and a set crisper drawers. The top shelf on the right side can be folded to provide more space for tall items. You'll also find a full-width drawer for deli and an inside water dispenser.

The refrigerator comes with an ice maker making it easy to transfer the ice when needed. The freezer is designed with thoughtful elements, for instance, sliding drawers to help you better organize the placement of items. It also has a large container for storing frozen food and a separate one for ice.

Another cool feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. It lets you manage the refrigerator's temperature as well as lighting from your smartphone. It's an easy way to keep track of your refrigerator and manage it, especially when you're away from home.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat, but it doesn't necessarily improve the performance of the fridge. This fridge took longer to defrost food and chill it than other models we tried. This could be due to its bigger capacity.

The doors pose a problem with this fridge. The handles that are sunken let shorter people open them from the bottom. However taller people will have a hard time closing them without slamming. It would have been better if they had a front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is an excellent choice for those looking to combine the look and feel of a french door fridge energy efficient-door refrigerator with more efficient design. Its capacity is superior to counter-depth models and is able to cool evenly. It's also a little cheaper than the best counter-depth refrigerators that have an ice maker, which can make it a desirable choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth french door fridge without water dispenser Door Refrigerator

This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a good option if you want a French-door fridge that doesn't break the budget. It's a simple fridge that may not be as attractive like some of its competitors however, it does have enough features to make it a suitable option. Its most notable feature is the adjustable temperature drawer helps to keep food items such as vegetables and meat fresher longer. It also comes with a huge water dispenser, as well as an excellent ice machine that works fast.

The "Chill Drawer", which sits above the two crisper bins, is another nice feature. This drawer lets you direct some of the fridge's cooling power to the area so that you can keep food items that require extra attention. You can adjust this feature by using an adjustable slider that is located just outside of the drawer. You can also use this feature to set a general cooling setting for the whole fridge, but I've noticed that adjusting the generic settings tends to have a better effect than specific ones.

Temperatures at the top and bottom of the fridge didn't stray very far from 38 degrees, and even the middle of the fridge was within a degree of 36. This is a great performance however it doesn't be among the top in our rankings.
