How to Replace an replacement audi a4 key G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician teaches how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. This sensor is located on the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via the grey wire (T55/49), then to the tachometer within the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

Located on the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear, the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends a signal to ECU pin T55/49 through the grey wire. The ECU then uses this information to control the boost, fuel, and timig. It also sends an indicator to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor serves as a reference point to connect with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu has to be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also the location of the camshaft in order to activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails to function, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is out of alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate a chain stretch or a jumped chain link in the upper chain. The code will not appear without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).

Testing can be a bit difficult because there are two pins for the connector and they have different functions however the best method of testing it is by measuring resistance between the sensor and the ECU. If the sensor is operational, it should read around 1000 ohms. Look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you are experiencing issues with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, as i was accelerating off the highway paytoll at a high speed, i noticed a huge reduction in power. It was as if the engine had run out of gas. Or my injectors weren't firing. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were drenched in gasoline and the fourth was unclean. When i crank the engine with no sparks, I put a piece of tissue on the top of each of the injector programming audi key copy Key (qooh.Me) holes, the 3 drenched with gazoline jump out but the 4th stays closed. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I got 0ohm. I assume that the problem is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it works fine when the G28 connected. However the intermittent misfire issue persists at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even if it is not plugged in, shows temperatures of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars when the actual pressure is 0.

I'm not certain what to do, i believe that i've eliminated everything else. I'm concerned that i may have missed something. Let audi key replacement near me know should you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 receives a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is similar to the G4 sender and both work on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. It is easy to find the spare in a salvage shop or parts store. Test them out to do - just put your DMM in resistance mode and take measurements between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's side up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black connector's end). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY, and ADU) engines have an ECU that has to be aware of the speed and position of the crankshaft in order to make decisions regarding timing of the fuel injector, for example. In order to do this it makes use of a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If you encounter a problem with either of these sensors, the diagnostic scanner will show codes that could cause the engine shutting down.

A failing G28 sensor could cause an inaccurate speed counter for the gearbox or a gearbox that shifts more quickly than normal, and/or a misfire while in gear. If you are experiencing any of these problems, it is likely your sensor is deteriorating and should be replaced. They are cheap and easy-to-find especially if they're a Bosch sensor like ours. If you prefer, GM's version of this part is an excellent choice.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine sensor could cause a number of problems in your car. It's an essential component of the transmission in your audi a3 key fob replacement because it relays information to the ECU about how fast or slowly the car's engine is turning. If the sensor fails, it could disrupt the performance of the transmission and the other car's components.

Peugeot-2021-New-Black.pngThe G5 engine speed sensor is located on the outside of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49 via an uncolored wire. The ECU is then able to process this signal to control the flow of fuel, timig and boost, and also transmitting it to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for any failure by checking the continuity between it and the tachometer, between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection via pin T6a/1 (trace [79]) as well as between T6a/1, and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should see around 1000 ohms of resistance between those points. This is a common part that is found across the audi key replacement cost 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC until the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU, so the best ones could be available in wrecking yards.renault-logo-evolution.jpg
