1. Smeg BCC02
Created by Milan-based firm Deep Design, this sleek compact and striking machine pairs the distinctive retro style of the brand with modern technology. It is able to handle every step of the coffee-making process - from grinding beans and tamping them into a puck to making milk into a texturing process and dispenses the correct amount of coffee - meaning you can make barista-quality hot drinks by pressing a button.
The machine is also available in black, red and taupe. It is a great fit into any kitchen design. The machine is not without flaws however. Many reviewers felt that it was a bit expensive for a cup to
Bean To Cup Cofee Machine maker (and isn't equipped with a pitcher of milk).
There were also many glowing reviews of this machine's ease of use as well as the quality of the coffee. The user-friendly digital display offers an easy-to-follow guideline and feedback throughout the making process, allowing you to perfect your drink every time. It will even alert you to alter the grind size if not quite right. This model is perfect for those who like milky drinks. The steam wand is adjustable to the right and left to fit a variety of drinking vessels, excluding Viking drinking horns. We were also awed by the speed and efficiency with which the frothing was done. It makes an amazing, full-flavoured espresso with a great crema.
The BCC02 is an excellent all-rounder, quiet and efficient and provides excellent value for money at its current price of PS499. The only problem is that it does not provide the same level of customisation as other bean-to-cup machines that we have tried. It has a 15 bar pump instead of the typical 19 bars, which isn't as good for producing quality espressos. This is a fantastic machine for those who prefer their coffee strong and dark.
