World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as crit chance and PvE damage.
If the weapon's upgrade template ends in %, it will be able to gain 3percent of its previous damage for every time it is upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item level increases.
Components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a stat boost or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can only be used on equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue before a component can be applied. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once and can't be used multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix may be added to an
upgrade item, thereby changing the name of the item it's applied to (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of the equipment that require fewer Upgrade Crystals than would be required to achieve the same upgrade level through normal methods.
A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defence attributes of a weapon, or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist These upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by buying them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals per.
The player can get the maximum of five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-level version of the item will appear during the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue upgrading their gear, even if they're unsure of how much they'll improve after a future reset.
The process of upgrading an item can be costly and it is likely that the item will eventually become obsolete, or even break, if the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer an additional bonus when they are reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs are
upgrade items components that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, including any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as you can to level 15.
It is commonplace to see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15 and offer an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes more quickly.
Glyphs, the sole upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and then replaced again, are the most common. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
Each Glyph has a specific range of values it can improve a stat by. The value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the Glyph.
You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools and also through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the numerous Glyphs as well as also a few rare glyphs that can be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have the desired Glyphs, you will need to place them on your gear. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that boosts the stats of a specific set of nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Glyphs will increase the number of nodes connected to them, which is why it is best to put Glyphs in the most important places on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. For example an Druid should try to place their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes, but also think about placing them near crucial damage nodes, too.
Leveling
The system of upgrading items allows players to increase the stats of certain items by placing upgraded components into them. This is often referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item has an amount that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires different components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.
Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or purchased from some NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns several Technology Points. These points can be used to the upgrading of an item. When enough points have been earned you will be eligible to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.
When an item is upgraded by a player to a higher level, the original item is replaced with a new item of the same type. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item will also come with a bonus of its own. This could be a problem because it can make the item more expensive, even if you don't require it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can reroll
item upgrades. This causes the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, which will have the level 1 base, and a completely different set of extra bonuses. This can be useful however it should not be used frequently as it can waste resources.
Certain upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants a buff if the player continuously enters or exits the water. It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time raising the maximum roll by 10 points. This item is extremely valuable in PvP as a perfectly rolled version of it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.
Requirements
The ability to
upgrade items allows players to increase the level of their available equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate items and currencies to an NPC that upgrades items. Upgrading armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of the item, and upgrading weapon equipment will increase the base damage and the strength and dexterity required to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.
Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear, which can be upgraded up to eight times. Every time you upgrade an object it is at risk of failing. The failure rate increases when you exceed the maximum number. Failures will cause the item to revert back to its original condition, which requires the user to spend more money on materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.
If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar on the bar for growth will be reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it has gained like crit chance, attack damage, or other effects (such as increased heal over time, or the speed of reloading). However, the player can continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.
If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon increases its crit chance that it will be applied before any attack damage increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item's definition and the value is computed every time an upgrade is applied.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are based on its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The upgrade cost for non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a standard equipment item may have five upgrades, each costing 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will come with the lowest cost for each additional upgrade.
Premium items may have different upgrade requirements than regular gear. For instance they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. Players will still have to carry every piece of equipment they want to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade cost mentioned above, each upgrade will require a different amount of the ingredients for upgrading.
