Robert Taylor was named as the Man of the Match following Miami's win. 
Miami got on top with an early lead thanks to the successful penalty kick from Josef Martinez to and extended their first half advantage to two goals following Taylor's goal.
After making some changes at halftime Charlotte were able to change the game's momentum in their favor for the first part of the second half but were unable to score despite some close chances.
An own goal that deflected in off the legs of Adilson Malanda put the final nail in the coffin ending any hopes of a Charlotte FC comeback. 
Messi capped things off with a fourth goal that set the crowd ablaze with only minutes left to play.
Miami dominated the games possession 62%-32% and also had a five-shot advantage in the shots on goal category 7-2.
