Choosing a double pram and pushchair (
linkagogo.Trade)
A well-designed double pram or pushchair will simplify life for families, particularly on busy streets or in shops and stores. Look for a model with ample storage space for nappies, snacks and other essentials.
Some parents who are first-time parents choose an infant pushchair that can be used as a single pram when bub is born and then transformed into a twin-mode after the baby is old enough. Joolz provides a variety of these options.
Tandem
The news that you're expecting a baby is one of the most exciting events in life. When the excitement wears off and the reality of the situation begins to set in, you will have to make a number of choices regarding how you can prepare your family. The proper
stroller double or pram is among the most crucial considerations.
Tandem prams (also known as "in-line" double prams) are a timeless design with two seats or pram bassinets that are arranged side by side. The front seat is usually covered in padding and reclines to a flat angle, making it suitable for newborns, while the second seat is more upright and can be used by toddlers up to three years old. of age. Some models have reversible seating so you can choose to have your children face one another or look at you. Many tandems have the option of being converted into a single pushchair when you decide your oldest child no longer needs the second seat.
In terms of cost the tandem is cheaper than a twin pushchair and can be an excellent choice for parents who want to save money but not compromising on safety or convenience. However, the drawback of a tandem is that it could be heavy and long to steer, especially when you're bumping up or down kerbs. Additionally, it is generally less stable than a twin pram, particularly if the older child is seated at the front. A tandem can also be difficult to get onto public transport and is difficult to navigate on narrow roads.
The iCandy Peach is a popular model that is a good choice for a single parent who is looking for something that is sleek, but the tandem mode can make it feel quite large and heavy when pushing. It has frames that can be expanded in width to accommodate the second seat. It can be used with a range of combinations of buggy seats, car seats, and carrycots (two at a time or separately). The iCandy Wave is another lightweight tandem option that's easy to use and compatible with a range of car seats and carrycots.
Side by side
When it comes time to choose a double pram or pushchair there's a lot to think about. There are a variety of configuration options to choose from, regardless of whether you're buying for twins or close-in-age siblings. Tandem prams (also known as side by side prams) are a popular choice since they can be arranged to accommodate infants with a bassinet on top while the older toddler or infant sits in the lower seat below.
Certain models come with reversible seats that allow you to customize the configuration for your family throughout the toddler and baby years. This lets you be able to watch your children at all times, and allows them to connect with them when they walk.
Tandem prams are jogging buggies as well as all-terrain buggies. They are perfect for outdoor excursions, such as to the park. They are also great for narrow aisles or checkouts in shops and supermarkets, as they are smaller.
The Redsbaby JIVE3 Pram, for instance, can be used as a tandem pram from birth in the dual mode with the addition of the rumble seat (PS249). You can then change to a single pram mode once your child grows out of the rumble seat or choose the car capsule adaptors (PS53) to transform it into a travel system from infant to toddler.
Another option is the Side by Side Pram from Babybee. This side-by-side double pram is available in a variety of colours and has an attractive modern style. Designed to be used right from the moment of birth, you can include the LUNA newborn Cocoon (PS262) and the LUNA Infant Seats (PS53 each).
If you're looking for a sleek, stylish pushchair that converts into a double-sided side-by-side, the Egg 2 from Chicco is an excellent choice. It is available in a variety of infant seats and carrycots to accommodate twins or siblings of different ages. It's also easy to collapse. It is also relatively
lightweight double stroller and therefore a good choice for those who have small cars or limited space for storage.
Convertible
The best double prams or pushchairs can be configured into different seats to accommodate your changing needs. You can fit up to three children on the seat board, or two toddlers in the seats, with room for shopping bags. Accessories such as rain covers are also available. Convertible double strollers are generally larger and heavier than single pushchairs due to the fact that they need to hold two or more children. The Graco Modes Nest2Grow is one example of an affordable convertible that is user-friendly, but our testers felt that it was a little heavy for the money.
Some convertible double strollers, like the Baby Jogger City Select 2, have a carrycot option that is suitable for infants. This reduces the size of the double stroller when not being used and makes it more compact. Our test participants were awestruck by the City Select's innovative one-handed fold, though it requires some time to master. It's also very agile and responsive, despite its size.
The Cybex Mockingbird single-to-
double stroller is another option that is reasonably priced. It can be converted from a rear-facing infant car seat to a forward-facing toddler car seat and the bassinet-style mode is a great choice for infants (although be aware that babies younger than 4 months old should not use strollers to sleep due to the danger of asphyxia from position).
If you're looking for more flexibility look into a convertible with dual modes like the iCandy Peach. This is a narrow double stroller that can hold two children side-by-side. It can be used to create a tandem by adding a second seating kit. It feels nimble and responsive, and our testers were impressed by its sleek design. It's not as light as the other pushchairs in our list however, it comes with an enormous shopping basket that is handy for parents carrying bags of groceries and toys.
lightweight twin buggyConvertible double strollers are an excellent option for parents who already have a child and expect another. The iCandy Peach allows you to transform from a single to a
double pushchair by the addition of either a toddler seat or the brand's optional carrycot (which is suitable for overnight sleeping). The seats are extremely comfortable and our testers love that they can be reclined in multiple positions. They also like the fact that the canopy has a peekaboo window and UPF 50+ protection. The rear seat can be raised high so that the older child can stand on it to reach the basket of shopping.
The only downside to the iCandy Peach is that it is quite heavy, but Cher believed that it was balanced by its ease to manoeuvre and how spacious the storage area is equipped with two hanging parent and child cup holders with seat-back pockets as well as a large underseat basket. Cher also appreciated the feature that the seats are reversible, so they can be set to face each other for siblings that want to talk and interact while out and out and about.
A lighter-weight but just as impressive option is the Delta Children LX side-by-side stroller that weighs only 18 pounds, is extremely compact and has a self-standing fold that makes it easy to transport and store in your trunk or at home. Parents love the quality of the materials and workmanship and the low price point. The only issue is that the seats don't recline as much as some other models we've tried and the back seat isn't very well-lit due to its position as it's higher than the front seat.
The Joolz Geo 3 is another popular choice. It's slim, sleek, easy to steer and comes with an unbeatable lifetime warranty. Although they are smaller than side-by-side strollers, they can be more spacious than tandems and inline doubles. This makes them difficult to maneuver on busy footpaths and in shops. They are also smaller which makes them easier to maneuver in tight spaces.
