WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also added to every upgrade.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for the latter because of the requirement to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the
Item level upgrade that is used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.
The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the item level, however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next level of upgrade, in the event that there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Item upgraders can be found at many locations, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades must be acquired through various methods that are both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items are from another set of equipment.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.
Crests
Players have a number of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for gear with a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated
upgrade item could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it will bring some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest level possible on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they have only one purpose. For instance it's
Best item upgrade to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the
Best item upgrader equipment you have and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
