I was surprised
The other day, on my way back from the supermarket, two old ladies walked past me... "There are a lot of flowers in Osaka," they said. After that, they talked about their hometowns, but it seemed like they were accompanying a caregiver... There were certainly flowers blooming in the flowerbeds at the supermarket
I've been living in Osaka for decades, but this is the first time I've heard the phrase "There are a lot of flowers in Osaka." A long time ago, when greening in Osaka became an issue, it was said that the reason was that Osaka had the least greenery out of all the cities with a million people in the world. They created reclaimed land in Osaka Bay, but this was also left unattended for decades.
Now, the Restoration Party is working to build a gambling hall on the reclaimed land along with the Osaka Expo, but this is also out of the question. Even without that, Japan is a country with an overwhelming number of gambling addicts, so what's the point of increasing the number even more? The other day, the number of signatures against casinos reached the number that was decided by voting, so I'm going to wait and see what happens next.
