WoW Upgrades - The
item upgrade Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an
item upgrading by 3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.
The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher
item level Upgrade level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the
item upgrading is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.
You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.
The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. For example upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgraders for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using a button, which will display an image of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a positive and a drawback.
In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is true regardless of whether the items come from a different set of equipment.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available when certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that crests are only available for gear that is of a particular rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the more complex one can require as much as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
The use of these currencies isn't too difficult however, the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to get their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. For instance, it's best to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment you have and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to make. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
