It's more expensive than our other options but our test-driver said it was worth the cost since it's sturdy and can be able to withstand the roughest of outings.

For a lightweight stroller that can handle more rugged terrain, look for a three-wheeler. The Thule Shine is a great option, and we've named it the previous winner in this category. It's a bit more expensive than our other choices, but it feels solid, and has many features (car seat compatible! dual cup holders!) that makes it a worthy investment. It can also be folded down to fit into the overhead bin of an airplane which makes it a great option for families who frequently travel.

The BOB Sport Utility

The BOB Sport utility is the ideal stroller to use when you want to get off the beaten track and get some exercise. The jogging stoller features pneumatic knobby wheels that are perfect for trail runs, and a handbrake that lets you to manage the downhills. It also comes with a state of the-art suspension system, a two-step folding, and a large cargo basket. It can also be used with a car seat for your infant when you purchase the right adapters.

The main drawback of this jogging stroller is its weight and size when folded. It weighs 25 pounds and folds down to 17,850 cubic inch, which is the standard for this category. The size of its footprint means it's not ideal for tight turns or narrow trunk spaces, but it has a small handle near the back of the storage basket that you can pull to collapse it into an upright, compact position.

Despite its bulk, this stroller remains easy to move around. The front wheel features a locking mechanism that lets you change it from normal to locked running mode, and the handlebar can be adjusted in height for different heights of parents. It also comes with a wide seat that can recline almost completely flat, and it has a large, vinyl peek-a-boo window that's easy to open and close.

Another major benefit is the Sport Utility's impressive quality, which has earned it a rating of 9 out of 10 in this measurement. It has a strong frame made of aluminum, with strong connections, no rough edges, and no weak stitching. It also has adjustable shocks which help with smooth-rolling performance.

Like the other BOB strollers we've reviewed the Sport Utility has optional car seat adapters that allow you to use it with a variety of infant car seats. It took us 5 hours and 24 minutes in our tests to assemble the stroller, from unpacking it until it was ready to go. It was simple enough to complete, however you'll require an Philips head screwdriver to complete the task. The manual included is easy to follow and well-organized, but it's recommended to keep one on hand in the case.

The Baby Trend Expedition

This jogger was made with safety, style and user-friendliness as its main goals. It comes with a tray for parents that has two cup holders as well as covered storage, and a child tray that can be swung away and has two cup holders. The adjustable canopy, with its peek-a-boo windows and a wide ergonomically-designed handle, offer comfort to both parents. The locking front swivel can be locked to jog, but unlocked to stroll. The large storage basket is able to hold essential travel items.

In the Strollers test program of Consumer Reports, the Baby Trend Expedition Jogger is a good performer overall, for its price, and gets higher marks than many of its competitors in various categories. This includes ease of using the 5-point harness folding and unfolding and adjusting the backrest, activating the brakes on the wheel and removing the infant car seat and installation (only for compatible models). It's designed to have an easy recline with one hand, that is sufficient for sleep. However the canopy cover, which ratchets, isn't easy to fix. It also takes nearly 8 minutes to install and the instructions are confusing, with several languages mixed together and difficult-to-read illustrations.

The only negative about this stroller is that it doesn't have suspension, which means the ride could be more bumpy than some of the other strollers that we've tested. This can be uncomfortable for children who are younger especially when their nap is about to begin. It does have tires that are filled with air however they don't offer as much shock absorption like the rubber wheels that are found on higher-end strollers.

This is a great choice for those who don't run frequently but need to be able to easily move over grass or gravel without worrying about obstacles like curbs or other obstructions. It's also a great choice for families with limited space since it folds into a compact size. It's lighter than many of the other joggers we've tested and can fit into spaces that some full-size strollers don't.

Another advantage is that it's much more easy to carry and lift than the heavier joggers we've tried. This is crucial for if you need to lift it out and into your car trunk regularly or if you're constantly moving.

The Nipper Sport V4

The new version of Out 'n' About's 3-wheeled running stroller is specifically made for jogging and features large pneumatic alloy tyres with a 16-inch diameter that can tackle even the most challenging tracks and paths. The Nipper is also lightweight and compact, making it simple to fold and transport.

This pushchair comes with an adjustable handlebar and front suspension, which makes it suitable for all kinds of terrains. It has an adjustable quilted liner that can be removed and a multi-position recline, as well the safety harness, which is padded to five points and hinged bar. It's also compatible with travel systems, allowing you to use it with the Cybex Maxi-Cosi, Maxi-Cosi, or a Be-Safe infant car seat.

The pushchair doesn't have a storage basket underneath the seat. It has a small shopping pouch to the rear of the seat, but it would not be large enough to accommodate a large changing bag. It is extremely easy to open and close, with just two hand-holds needed to release the plastic catches on the opposite side of the lower frame. There is a second lock catch on the handlebar in red that can be loosened by one hand, making it extremely easy to use.
