Path of Exile Item Upgrades

The performance of a variety of Path of Exile items can be improved by upgrading them. They can cause additional damage, AD or even affixes.

In most cases, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade gear due to their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be applied to weapons and armor items. They improve the stats of the item that they are connected to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of games and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged using an expert or higher salvage kit to salvage upgrades from the items.

The amount of damage that an armored piece or weapon will absorb is contingent on the level of its upgrades. The damage absorption of a piece armor will increase as it is upgraded to its maximum upgrade level. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it must be heavier.

There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are that are available in the game and each one has distinct effects. For example, some upgrades give the armor a certain number of health points while others will make it stronger and lighter. The name of the upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade that an item Upgrader kit will be given, as illustrated below.

Some of the upgrades also require magic or a combination of technology and magic, which are shown by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Additionally, some upgrades require charges to use, which are identified by the "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges associated with these upgrades refresh daily or never expire, dependent on the upgrade.

The cheapest way to upgrade armor is with Iron Ore, which can be found by exploring the environment and looting small loot chests. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The defensive boost gained usually isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades.

Weapons

Jewels

Jewels can be used to improve a stat or provide secondary effects in weapons and armor. In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels are able to be swapped with a jewel of the same kind without damaging the original one. However it is only possible to replace a jewel in a piece of equipment once.

Using more jewels in a move will make it feel smoother and is typically used to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. Apart from improving performance, the jewels also create a surface that is harder than metal, which means that repeated friction with pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.

Jungle players usually upgrade their yellow trinket to a red trinket at the beginning of the game. Mid and top players on the other hand, will choose a green or a pink ward, depending on the game's matchup. These choices will have a major impact on the hero's map control abilities.

Aside from the items mentioned above, players may also find other trinkets in the game in the form of trophies and awards. These can be obtained through completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, completing the main quest for a chapter or defeating an opponent.
