Path of Exile
Item UpgradesThe performance of a variety of Path of Exile items can be improved by upgrading them. They can cause additional damage, AD or even affixes.
In most cases, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade gear due to their high requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be applied to weapons and armor items. They improve the stats of the item that they are connected to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of games and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged using an expert or higher salvage kit to salvage upgrades from the items.
The amount of damage that an armored piece or weapon will absorb is contingent on the level of its upgrades. The damage absorption of a piece armor will increase as it is upgraded to its maximum upgrade level. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it must be heavier.
There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are that are available in the game and each one has distinct effects. For example, some upgrades give the armor a certain number of health points while others will make it stronger and lighter. The name of the upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade that an
item Upgrader kit will be given, as illustrated below.
Some of the upgrades also require magic or a combination of technology and magic, which are shown by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Additionally, some upgrades require charges to use, which are identified by the "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges associated with these upgrades refresh daily or never expire, dependent on the upgrade.
The cheapest way to upgrade armor is with Iron Ore, which can be found by exploring the environment and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive however it is obtainable from smelters located in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied to armor pieces of the highest level. These upgrades can give significant boost to stats and are worth the cost, especially for single-handed weapons.
The player must be aware, however, that upgrading a piece up to the maximum upgrade level will boost its defense. However, it can also affect its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The defensive boost gained usually isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades give players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. For example an upgrade could increase the damage dealt by a shotgun's shells or the accuracy of a rifle sniper. Certain weapons come with special enhancements to enhance their intrinsic qualities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and decreases the chance of the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).
The majority of upgrades for weapons require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. These can be obtained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of bosses and monsters.
The process of upgrading a weapon, equipment Set piece or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade price of a certain number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars are required to complete it. The cost of the upgrades will be lower if have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the way you upgrade your equipment and weapon sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a certain amount of Bars. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level and at that point, the upgrades would reset.
You can still do this but the process is based on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're better off going to stores and buying equipment that has low upgrade levels but excellent base scores and stat distributions. These gears have a better likelihood of granting you highest level of benefits and blessings.
To increase their level quicker, players usually prioritize upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their teammates utilize to increase their power. Shepard, for example, should upgrade the M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will increase the effectiveness of the weapon when used in conjunction by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to improve a stat or provide secondary effects in weapons and armor. They can be made through an process known as jewelry crafting, in which you combine a gem with several chemicals at a table. The higher the level of the jewel, the better its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or by collecting Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.
The quality of a jewel can be improved by the Jeweler in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. Based on the level of the jewel it will give different stat boosts when it is inserted into gear, weapons and jewelry.
The Jeweler can create all kinds of gems, apart from the rare and legendary ones that require a certain level to get. In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels are able to be swapped with a jewel of the same kind without damaging the original one. However it is only possible to replace a jewel in a piece of equipment once.
Using more jewels in a move will make it feel smoother and is typically used to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. Apart from improving performance, the jewels also create a surface that is harder than metal, which means that repeated friction with pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.
In addition to the above-mentioned upgrades additionally, players can get glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These are a small perk and are able to be swapped easily however they aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold, and also scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like traits and aegis aren't swappable and can only be retrieved using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them using Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that bestow many small, but beneficial benefits to your hero. They can be acquired starting in the beginning areas as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and by doing road interactions. They can also be crafted by jewelers, and then found or purchased at the Trading Post.
The first trinkets a player unlocks will be the cloak. It grants a small, but valuable boost to movement speed and the ability to escape. After that, they can get amulets, rings, and necklaces in the same fashion to how the player can acquire armor and weapons. Every piece of equipment has an upgrade slot that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced and are only compatible with certain trinkets.
These trinkets also provide additional buffs and skills that are active whenever the hero is not fighting. This allows the hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It also helps compensate for the lack of a strong slot in the talent tree or team which are usually filled by the hero's
Best item upgrader stats.
A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing soon, followed by items with desirable stats, but less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded. This is true especially if you're looking to upgrade several statistics on an
item level upgrade. It is more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat instead of two subpar ones.
Jungle players usually upgrade their yellow trinket to a red trinket at the beginning of the game. Mid and top players on the other hand, will choose a green or a pink ward, depending on the game's matchup. These choices will have a major impact on the hero's map control abilities.
Aside from the items mentioned above, players may also find other trinkets in the game in the form of trophies and awards. These can be obtained through completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, completing the main quest for a chapter or defeating an opponent. You can check them out by clicking on the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
