Three Wheeled Buggies
Whether you're looking for a buggy run around in or a compact stroller for strolls around the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies are great for mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight spaces.
If you are looking for a smooth ride with your pram, choose models with 360deg front wheels with swivel. They are, however, susceptible, to punctures. Make sure you have a repair set.
Frame made of sturdy material
Recent figures have been released revealing that the three-wheeled buggy which was a symbol of the decade of more money than sanity - is in steep decline. They have been replaced by four-wheelers which can handle a wider range of terrain, yet still look elegant and easy to push.
The basic rule is that the bigger the wheels are, the easier it'll be for your buggy to deal with rough ground and bumpy pavements. The larger wheels on both the front and back also makes it much easier to manoeuvre and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy out with the newborn baby and a
3 wheeled buggies-year-old child and found it extremely robust. It was able to withstand cobbles, grass and rough pavements as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. She noted that it was sturdy to push, and very stable on difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable, so require occasionally pumping) have suspension built-in, which was very comfortable for my children.
The size and shape of the seat is another thing to think about. You'll want it to be large enough to accommodate your child's comfort and you will also want it to be able to recline so that they can lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies have a lie-flat option that allows your child to lie flat and face you, while others only allow a face-to-parent one.
A great option for those who want to tackle off-road or muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. It can be used as a single unit from birth and then adapts to accommodate two children as your family grows. It is suitable for infants and toddlers from birth to age 4. It includes a bumper with a rain cover, an upgraded 5-point harness, and a big padded seat. The storage options are good as well, with a decent-sized basket, zip pockets on the hood and an easy-to-access pouch on the back of the seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels give your buggy more stability when driving on rough terrain. This is perfect for buggies that are off-road. They also allow you to maneuver the buggy through tight spaces. Many
three wheeled buggies have the front wheels that swivel to assist you in maneuvering around tight corners, whereas others are specifically designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability at which they can be driven. This also helps in the event that you hit the roots of a tree or stray curb, since the front wheel can be lifted up slightly to prevent you from hitting it.
A majority of
3 wheel jogger wheel pushchairs come with air-filled tyres. This means they are able to handle many different terrains and are much more adaptable than 4-wheelers. They also tend to be lighter. However, they're susceptible to punctures and you'll need a repair kit, spare inner tube, and pump on hand.
Some of our favourite 3-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. Both of these buggies come with larger wheels that, according to MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on gravel tracks, grass and market town cobbles" and can easily move up and down kerbs. They also come with a suspension system that in her words "smoothes out bumps very effectively".
Buggies with larger wheels may be quite large, and can be difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is a problem especially if you're using it to an exercise bike or to to get through doors that are narrow when out and out and about. Fortunately, the majority of models come with compact folding options that let you remove the front wheels to make compact storage.
Easy to Manoeuvre
One of the major advantages to a three wheel buggy is that it can be much easier to maneuver particularly with a child in the back. The way in which they are built ensures that the front wheels spin on a dime and are incredibly easy to maneuver, making them ideal for difficult terrain such as parks, cobbles or bumpy pavements, as well as dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried a
3 wheel travel stroller-wheeler with her toddler and newborn and stated: "The Terrain was a delight to maneuver on the ground and the swivel front wheel being especially helpful. I was also awed by how well it coped with the kerbs, particularly when using the hand-operated brake. It was extremely stable when going downhill or on a rough terrain."
The only downside to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of a
3 wheel stroller and car seat wheel buggy might make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something you need to be aware of when your home is a city. If this is a concern, a 4-wheel buggy might be better for you.

Bumper bars protect your child from scrapes and bumps while out and about. These bumper bars are easy to install, and will help your child feel secure and safe out and about.
Created to match the sleek lines of the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller, this bumper bar has an upholstered and soft surface that offers a comfortable spot for your child to hold on to while walking. The robust construction and sturdy design will ensure that your child is comfortable strolling around town without having to worry about falling or leaning towards the side.
The sling seat made of fabric sits in the frame, snugly instead of sitting on top like modular seats do, providing the lowest center of gravity at the appropriate height for your baby and also delivering excellent weight distribution for easy kerb pop (it takes less effort to push the buggy over and up a curb than you think). MFM reviewer Kath said it's ideal on cobbles and grass. It's also a great alternative for running, thanks to its tyres that are filled with air and a locking swivel wheels.
With a sophisticated and stylish design This bumper bar will surely attract attention wherever you go. It's available in a range of finishes and colours to fit your style. The bumper bar can be easily removed and installed using a quick-release mechanism. Additionally, the bumper bar is easy to clean and is made from durable materials that are easy to wipe down. Comfort
A 3-wheel buggie offers the highest level of maneuverability and performance when you go off-road. With perfect geometry and weight distribution, this kind of buggy is able to turn on a dime and be a breeze to steer using just one hand. All Mountain Buggies pass the same rigorous global stability standards and tests as buggies with 4 wheels.
The seat is made of fabric placed snugly within the frame instead of on top of it like modular seats, the Sport's clever design permits it to have a lower centre of gravity at the right level for your child - giving you a more comfortable push, a lighter curb pop (you do not require as much weight or effort to pop the buggy's nose up and over a curb) and a better stability and balance. With 16" rear wheels, the lockable front wheel, and tyres that are air-filled that allow you to enjoy an easier, more comfortable jogging.
The only stroller in our collection with an adult-facing seat that can also accept an infant car seat or carrycot, you can make sure your family is prepared for every adventure - from the very first day and for years to come!
It's not the only reason to adore this buggy - our MFM reviewer Kath was impressed by how spacious it is, too. There's a huge easily accessible basket that's quite spacious for a buggy of this size, plus there's an excellent zip-up pouch on the back of the seat unit and even 2 smaller mesh pockets under the hood to store your phone and keys.
