Path of Exile
Item UpgradingIn Path of Exile, item upgrading is one of the most effective ways to upgrade your equipment without relying on large-ticket drops or trade. This article will teach you how to upgrade your items efficiently.
Upgrades to equipment give an additional bonus to the item's stats. The amount of bonus varies depending on the rarity and level of the upgrade component.
Components
Upgrade components are the parts that make your weapons and armor more effective. You can find them by destroying enemies, purchasing them from karma sellers or finding them in items-spheres. They can also be rescued from equipment that contains them or by using an advanced salvage kit such as the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. Unlike most other items, upgrade components are not destroyed when they are removed from an item.
Upgrade components are primarily used to upgrade an item, but they can also be used for other purposes. They can be used to increase the quality of an item that can be upgraded or they can be used to increase the experience gained by upgrading an existing weapon or piece of gear. They can be forged to give additional bonuses. For instance, a specially crafted glyph will boost the chances of upgrading its target, whereas a boost upgrade will increase the attack or defense attribute of a weapon or armor.
Selecting an upgrade template from the GUI will let you bind it to an item. This will show the upgrade components that the item can be upgraded. You can also use the workbench to select an upgrade template. In either case, the item will be upgraded when enough upgrade components are gathered.
Each component has a different experience multiplier, which determines how much more experience an item will gain when it is upgraded with that component. For instance, organic components give an experience multiplier that is higher than mechanical ones. Therefore, it is recommended to upgrade using organic components until you have reached the experience multiplier for the next rank of weapon or gear, then switch to mechanical upgrades.
Each item comes with an upgrade maximum number that it is possible to receive. The number of items that can be upgraded is determined by their upgradeable rank, and the kind of upgrade they can get. The highest upgrade possible is a weapon of tier 10. The most commonly used upgrade is a gun of tier 6 and an armor upgrade of tier 5.
Sets
A set is a collection of items that have a bonus. Each item in the set can be upgraded at least once and the upgrade will increase the guaranteed bonuses. The first time you upgrade an item or set piece is that it will be given an increase of +1 to its primary stat. After subsequent upgrades, the primary stats are increased even more (for instance, +1 for 12+/13+/14+) and every time an item is upgraded, one of its stats will increase randomly.
Upgrades can also boost the damage base of a weapon. This may be important for certain builds. However, weapons are not upgraded to have a higher maximum defense roll than their regular base. Upgrading can be a good way to improve the value of certain sets and unique items, however it is important to keep in mind that they might not be superior to a high-level runeword in any build.
If you are upgrading an item with a bonus the item can be rerolled one time and the guarantee will reset back to 0. Rerolling costs the same amount of power dice as leveling an item up, but the new item will have different extra bonuses. Upgrades can be made at the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine. To upgrade an item, you'll require a power die of each type (Dice 4 or 6 drop from monsters 21+ and Giants; dice 7 drops from bosses) and the appropriate amount of Minerals and Erons. These are available at the crafting table or the Ultra Collector and can be purchased using Gold. The NPC will also provide an extra reward for each tier of the upgrade process. The reward can be rerolled a single time using the same materials and components as the first
Best item upgrade.
Rerolling
If players have enough rerolling tokens, they can roll any item they have acquired during the game. If an item is rerolled, it will be replaced with an equivalent level 1 version from another set. Reroll tokens can be purchased at the store for an amount of in-game currency, however they aren't refundable. The new item will have the same bonus features as the previous one, but the stats will be different.
In addition to rerolling items players can also alter the identity of any equipment by engaging with an upgrader NPC. This will change its identification as a weapon to armor or reverse it. Its base stats and requirements will remain the same. The change is permanent and will affect all characters who own the gear in question.
The player can also upgrade the level of the item for any equipment that is equipped. This can be done by interacting with an upgrader NPC and getting upgrade components. This will cost a certain number of crests and Valorstones according to the upgrade track and item kind. Each step will add 5% more damage to weapons.
The upgrade of an item will make it more powerful, but it will reduce its effectiveness. Therefore, it is important to balance the two. Some items may not be worth upgrading at all and some will require to be upgraded to maximize their potential. One player may wish to upgrade the breakpoint armor by adding an interesting modification ( percent block chance, or FHR) in order to discover what it could be.
The primary reason people reroll in Genshin Impact, or in any gacha-based game, is because they are trying to acquire a certain character or weapon that they can't otherwise obtain. The process of obtaining these items can be costly and time-consuming and the RNG gods aren't always willing to play. The only alternatives are to invest money or grind extensively. Rerolling is a popular feature in Genshin Impact.
Leveling
You can choose whether to upgrade the weapon or armor after upgrading an item. However, this feature is absolutely nothing in the current game. I think this feature was created to give value to expensive and rare items. However, since the majority of gear is replaced fairly quickly and can only be upgraded one level, you'll generally replace it before it is too old. It's also not worth upgrading items using gem sockets, as the power of the stone will outweigh any increase in the ilvl.
You will see a small box when you click the upgrade option on an
item upgrader kit. It will show the template for the
item upgrader, its crest, and the cost of Valorstone to increase the item level. Armor and weapons will have different costs, with the former generally being more expensive. The upgrade template shows the statistics that will be added to the upgraded item and will also list its current base ilvl.
The crest and Valorstone costs are calculated by analyzing the current ilvl of the item and the upgrade template. The ilvl is also reduced by the upgrade template's lvl reduction percentage. For instance an upgrade of 8% will reduce the ilvl of a weapon by 8 to 88%.
In addition to the increase in ilvl base, the item will also get upgrades in other stats such as critical strike damage, PvE damage and dodge, block and parry rating. These enhancements are also based on the upgrade template.
In the upgrade template you can determine the amount of damage or defense the item will be able to sustain when it is upgraded. This is listed below the cost and the upgrade percentages. Aside from practice equipment, all other armor and weapons gain the same stats once upgraded. The market will determine the value of these stats. A weapon or armor that has perfect rolls can command an incredibly higher price than an unupp'd version. The same applies to other pieces of armor, such as circlets and Tiaras.
