iRobot suggests cleaning the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it might encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the bin and filter clean so that they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or its battery is depleted it goes back to its docking station, automatically empties its debris into the station's dust bin and then resumes cleaning the area where it left off. The battery's life span is approximately an hour-and-a-half of continuous usage. It takes about three hours to fully charge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top rated robot vacuum model in iRobot's flagship line, and it is equipped with the most recent features. It is self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is the self-emptying bin. This removes the need for regular maintenance.

In our testing, the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our second-placed model which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds, including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot on how to begin or stop cleaning sessions and also to move around the room, and to remote vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. When connected we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

Its specialized cleaning head drives stiff nylon bristles deep into carpet to suck up large dust and crumbs. It comes with three suction modes to meet the task that is being completed. The V10's biggest drawback is its short run time. As CR's tests have shown, its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is a typical battery-powered vacuum's run time. This is still enough to clean most of a typical-sized home however, it's not enough to cover every area (though a second run-through usually will suffice). However, this model doesn't have its advantages: It's lighter and agile than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is significantly better on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in an expensive self-cleaning robot vacuums. It's capable of sucking up a variety of debris types and sizes during our testing, and it often passes over the same areas multiple times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front allows it to reach corners and the edges of walls.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and navigate your home. However, it lacks the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, including our top picks, the i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. Because of this, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't as sturdy, and often will run out of battery before returning to its home base.
