1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful
robot vacuum uk vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model), they use smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a great deal particularly if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, however it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm is perfect for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the rivals. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and some additional cost it's a capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line
robot vacuum cleaners best mop and vacuum. It has a number of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys the mop pads.
The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the degree of dirt they tend to be.
For larger houses it's recommended to choose models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your house via the app or voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you own a number of furniture. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might think from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using one pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
