The $1400 list price could be a bit steep, however, it is usually available to make it more affordable. The unit looks stunning, and the base takes up very little room in a corner.
The design of this robot addresses some of the issues we've encountered with other robotic vacuum and mop models, for example, the brushes getting caught in hair, and the vacuum brush not being able to reach bare floors underneath furniture. The ability to sweep floors and carpets is also impressive. The vacuum and mop have a high-quality debris collection and the mop will quickly saturate bare flooring.
The mops also use an intelligent system to clean along the edges of walls and around furniture. The robot can handle the largest obstacles such as toys, food bowls, shoes, and backpacks with any issue. It is able to get tangled or stuck with smaller, flatter objects like shoelaces, USB cable, and pen.
We used this robot to clean and mop a mix of pile carpet tiles, FLOR carpet and hardwood floors in a large, open house floor plan. With FREO Mind enabled, it vacuumed and mopped the 90m2 space in around 170 minutes that's close to the average for Gen 4.
A number of features set this robot apart from other models in its class. Freo X Ultra is equipped with numerous improvements in software, sensors, and hardware to keep it on top of its class. It promises 3.5 hours of autonomy for environments of up to 260 square meters.

Miele Scout RX3
Miele is a name synonymous with quality and innovation in the field of robot vacuuming. The new Miele robot is designed to take cleaning performance to a new level, with its innovative features.
The RX3 has a dual-suction system smart mapping system that includes 3D mapping and camera that transmits a real-time image to your smartphone. The RX3's robust four-stage system offers excellent dust collection on hard and carpet floors. Side brushes that can be swung out, dual suction channels and intuitive controls clean corners. The 8.5 cm height lets it fit under low furniture, while front cameras and infrared sensors help it navigate around obstacles and thresholds with ease.
In our test of how it cleaned baking soda from corners and baseboards The Scout RX3 was impressive. Its suction of 2,500 Pa was less powerful than some other robots, but it was able to move quickly and was very quiet. It didn't mop and its removable cleaning pad was difficult to attach. It also wasn't able to handle dried-on dirt.
Its app is basic and lacks features such as multiple cleaning modes and automated scheduling. It does support Alexa however, its voice controls aren't very intuitive or responsive. It's also a bit flaky when it comes back to the charging station after a run. Other robots can follow the wall or trace the previous route, but the RX3 bumbles around until it finally gives up.
We also encountered issues with the intelligent features of the device, such as its mapping feature and the digital stay-out zones. It was good at keeping our shoes and furniture legs away but it was easily hanging up on socks, cables, and rugs. This is the reason we decided not to include it on our Best Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and impressive performance. It's worth considering as an alternative to uprights that are traditionally used.
