They also come with carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good value particularly if your home or office has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robotic cleaner and mop hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes This mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our tests. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has 100% in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or during the night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it's more expensive and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and cleans and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the amount of dirt they tend to be.

If you have a larger home, it is worth choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot cleaner with mop vacuum to resume where it left off can be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also grants access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we have examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
