Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum can keep your floors tidy enough to reduce the frequency of hoovering manually. Select a vacuum that is well-trained in navigation, can clean corners and stairs and also has large bins that only needs to be emptying every so often.
There are models that mop and charge themselves, which is a feature essential for families with pets or children. A lot of the top performers in our tests have decent obstacle avoidance.
1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling the i3 EVO are the same robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a good alternative for those who want a a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dust bin when it is full.
Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors and they're excellent in maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we tested. It may get stuck on power cords or socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces like hardwood and rug.
iRobot suggests that you clear areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, which includes putting away any toys or clutter it may come across. Also, keep the filters and dust bin free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is depleted, it returns to its docking station and automatically empties its debris into the station's external dustbin and continues cleaning the area where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes around three hours to recharge.
2. Roomba by iRobot
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it is equipped with the most recent features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and the most important feature of all -- it has a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, which allows it to identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and direct your robot by voice or through the app.
The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, is its self-emptying dustbin, which eliminates a major source of maintenance and lowers the amount of time spent cleaning.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot to begin or stop cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room and to vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. When connected, we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a world of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in most homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered with a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery, which produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then releases fresh air into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpet to suck up large dust and crumbs. It comes with three suction modes to match the task at hand. It quickly switches from handheld to floor vacuum and back.
This model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also provides the ability to connect two attachments and the handheld. This is a significant improvement over the older Dysons models, which take a long time to charge and are a pain to store.
The V10's main drawback is its limited running time. As CR's tests show, its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is a common battery-powered vacuum's run time. It's still enough time to clean most of an average-sized house but not long enough to cover every spot (though the second time around usually can be effective). However, this model doesn't have its advantages It's lighter and more mobile than the older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is significantly superior on carpets with a low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of iRobot's most adored robot vacuums, the 694 is a basic model that's an excellent option for those who don't want to spend too much money on a robot. It could pick up all kinds of debris in our tests and would often go over the same area several times to ensure an efficient clean. Its flat front end helps it to reach into corners and along the walls' edges which is a nice addition.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and navigate your home. It's not equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, like our
top rated robot Vacuum picks, the i3+EVO and j7+ Series. This means that it may get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and frequently is power-depleted before returning to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi
robot cleaning machine is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 in that it has less parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, incurs lower recurring cost, has more advanced automation capabilities and can better move its own. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.
The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of purposes, as it has a better battery life, can change the suction power mode by hand, comes with physical boundary strips, and can be operated by your phone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a larger motor, and performs better on floors with low pile and bare.

The app offers a variety of options to customize your robotic cleaner. This includes mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior customizations docking frequency settings and many more. It's easy to understand and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our testing of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86% of it. However, it did not do particularly well at avoiding taller objects like cords and socks which was a disappointment. It's also more expensive than other models we've tested, and this could be a problem for certain shoppers.
The app lets you access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's cleaning zone. This feature lets you to monitor your children or pets when you are away. The dustbin and filter can be cleaned for quick, easy cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with self-emptying clean stations, which helps keep the bin clean and maximizes suction power.
