The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its price is surprisingly low and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Make sure to check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models will also empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the bottom. This reduces the amount fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture legs. They also come with a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet in order to get it clean quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good deal for those whose home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to clean an entire home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on a variety of flooring and rooms with different flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky models from the rivals. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot automatic vacuum and mop/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however, it's going to cost you more and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The automatic vacuum and mop cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also comes with a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house based on how dirty these areas tend to be.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose one with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home via the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have lot furniture. Finally, a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot automatic vacuum and mop pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and under furniture more easily. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is louder than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
