It's quick and does an excellent job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It vacuums carpeted rooms extremely quickly and hardwood floors in the kitchen, hallways, and living room in one go. Its 8,000pa motor is able to clean dirt, pet hair, and droppings effortlessly. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it comes in contact with carpets and the two side brushes help pull out dirt from corners.

The mopping performance, though still impressive, is not as effective. The rotating mop spins fast and utilizes 2.2lbs to clean dirt and stains. I've also noticed that the front arms protrude out a bit more than other robots, which can be helpful to get into tight corners and along baseboards. The front arms can also be used to scoop up larger debris like books and broken toys.

Its main drawbacks were its lack of sophistication and the necessity to change out the modules whenever switching between mopping and vacuuming. The app doesn't have the capacity to store multiple maps, which can be a problem when you live in a house that has a variety of floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those who want an intelligent robot that is capable of vacuuming and mopping.

The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive item in our review. It does however, have distinct features that make it worth considering. The X1 Omni's biggest draw is its massive dock which serves as the robot's charging base and housing for two 4-liter water tanks, a sink for cleaning as well as an automatic 2.5-liter dust bin that automatically emptys.

The base also has a variety of control buttons that let you manually start cleaning, recall the robot, or start the dock's auto-emptying process. Hold down two buttons to toggle a child lock, which is a nice feature for parents who are worried about their children playing with the vacuum.

Another possible issue is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically change between vacuuming and mopping modes during a cleaning session. You will have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad but mopping pads don't get cleaned or dried between use. This can lead to mildew and mold.

On the bright side it's worth noting that the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who dreamed up its modern and sleek base as well as mopping pad. It's a huge contrast to the basic black bases of rivals such as Roborock or iRobot. It's also an excellent choice for the market that is dominated by boxy models.
