Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum can keep the floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency with which you'll need to manually vacuum. Find one that has good navigation, can clean stairs and corners and also has a large dust bin that needs emptying only periodically.
There are models that can mop and charge themselves, a feature that may be important for people with pets or kids. A lot of the top performers in our tests also have decent obstacle avoidance.
1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling the i3 EVO are the same robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a great option for those who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience but don't mind taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin when it fills up.
Both robots excel at cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors and they are very good in getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean efficiently. However unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we tested the i3+ does not have any obstacle-avoidance features which means it can get stuck on things like socks or power cords, and it may have trouble in navigating through transitions between surfaces, such as from hardwood to carpet.
iRobot suggests cleaning the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it might encounter. It's also recommended to keep the bin and filter clean so that they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is low, it returns to its docking station and automatically emptying its trash into the station's external dustbin, and then continues cleaning the area where it left off. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for about an hour and a half continuous use, and takes about three hours to fully recharge.
2. Roomba by iRobot
The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest technology. It is self-charging and self-navigating, but the most important feature is its self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot through the app or voice.
In our testing the i7+ performed quicker and more maneuverable than our runner-up and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surface kinds including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin, which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and move around the room and vacuum a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected, we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered by a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy, which produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpet to collect large crumbs and fine dust. It comes with three suction modes that can be adjusted to suit the task. It swiftly switches from handheld to floor vacuum, and then back to floor.
This model also has a dock that charges to 100% in around 3.5 hours and offers easy access to two attachments as well as an wand clip. This is a major improvement over earlier Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The V10's main drawback is its limited run time. As CR's tests have shown, its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are not true. This is an average and not a remarkable run time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. That's still enough run time to get rid of the majority of a home that's average size, but not quite long enough to get every single spot (though a second run-through usually can be effective). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeable superior on low-pile floor carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
One of the most well-known
cheap robot vacuum vacuums, the 694 is an affordable model that's a great choice for people who don't want to invest too much on a robot. It was able to remove most types of debris and sizes in our tests, and frequently went over the same area many times for an extensive clean. Its flat front side helps it reach into corners and along the walls' edges and walls, which is a nice feature.
Its
intelligent vacuum cleaner navigation system makes use of iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capability of more sophisticated models such as our top selections and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. As a result, it may get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and frequently is power-depleted before making it back to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects because it has fewer parts that need regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.
The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most reasons, since it has a better battery life, has the ability to alter its suction power mode on its own and has physical boundary strips, and is controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and is more effective on floors with low pile and bare.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's not surprising that they are one of the
top robot vacuum cleaner makers of
robot vacuum cleaner sale vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology to navigate and avoid obstacles.
The app offers a variety of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior adjustments docking frequency settings and more. It's easy to comprehend and easy to use, just as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our tests of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. However, it did not do particularly well in avoiding taller objects like cords and socks which was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than some of the other models we've tested, which might be a deal-breaker for certain shoppers.
The app lets you access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning zone. This feature lets you keep track of your pets or kids when you're away from home. The filter and the dustbin can be cleaned for a quick, painless clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with an automatic clean station which helps keep the bin clean and maximizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Unlike other robotic vacuums, that are specifically designed for carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard floors. They come with a wide cleaning path and an extra-large dustbin that holds 2X more debris than competitors to keep the cleaning area clear for maximum runtime. They also include two side sweepers for cleaning along edges and corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model comes with AutoSense technology, which can tell if it's picking up surface litter or embedded dirt and then automatically adjusts its power level. It also comes with a smart app that lets you browse the virtual map and manage the functions and schedules. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum and connect it to the dock for charging with the click of a button. The app also allows you to personalize the LED lights on
Top Rated Robot Vacuum of the vacuum using different colors, so that you can easily tell the areas where it's focused or where it's got stuck.
The app makes it possible to manually steer the robot when needed. For example, my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that has a tendency to cause confusion for other robots I've tried. The HRV 425BL however, continued to move across the border without ever registering the edge. The ability to program a daily cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving benefit.
