1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling the i3 EVO are the same robots that differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying features. The i3+ is a great alternative for those who want a a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the robot's dustbin when it is full.

Both robots are adept at cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors, and they're very adept at getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that help the i3+ navigate and clean up efficiently. The i3+ doesn't have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we test. It can be stuck on power cords and socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces like hardwood and rug.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, including clearing out any clutter or toys it may come across. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or its battery is empty, it returns to its docking station, automatically empties its trash into the station's external dustbin, and then continues cleaning where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half continuous use. It takes around three hours to fully recharge.

2. Roomba from iRobot

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot and is equipped with the most recent features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and -- the most important feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that lets it map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can control your robot through the app or via voice.

The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin that removes major maintenance sources and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot to start or stop cleaning sessions and also to move around the room, and vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward using the iRobot best home vacuum cleaner app. Once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in many households and can fit in well next to the table for a coffee or the bookshelf, where you can wave it around like the magic wand.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. Its flat front allows it to reach the corners and edges of walls.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. It's not equipped with the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, like our top picks, the i3+EVO and J7+ Series. This means that it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and often runs out of battery power before making it back to its home base.

The app gives you plenty of options to customize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior customization docking frequency settings and much more. The app is easy to navigate and use as are other Samsung devices.

In our tests our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86 percent of it. However, it did not do particularly well with taller objects like cords and socks which was disappointing. It's also more expensive than other models we've tested, and this could be a deterrent for some shoppers.

The app allows you to access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's cleaning zone. The POWERSERIES model comes with AutoSense that automatically adjusts the power level based on whether it is picking up dirt that is on the surface or embedded. It also comes with a smart app that lets you see the virtual map and control the functions and schedules. You can also monitor the vacuum's status and send it to its dock for charging with the press of a single button.
