A bedside crib, also known as a bassinet for babies, is placed near your bed so that you can safely look after your infant during night feeds and nappy-changings, without having to leave bed. They also help in developing confidence as your baby gets more comfortable in their own sleep space.
The Joie Roomie Glide
The Joie Roomie Glide crib is a bedside crib which allows parents to sleep with their baby while ensuring that they are safe to sleep. Its smooth glide can help ease your baby's sleep, and its innovative features let you monitor your baby without leaving the your bed.
The cot's sliding side panel lifts and lowers with the touch of an button, making it simple to reach in and soothe a crying baby in the night. It has 11 height adjustments to accommodate almost any mattress size. It also has adjustable folding feet that ensure it sits exactly at the right height.
In terms of safety the cot is cushioned and fitted with mesh sides for better ventilation, and its mattress is made of high-density foam for extra protection. It is also wipeable which means you can keep the crib clean. It comes with a fitted bed sheet that is suitable for the crib.
Unlike some other
4-in-1 bedside crib cribs unlike other cribs for bedside use, the Roomie Glide is suitable for the majority of beds, including divans due to its straps and clip attachment. It can also be used as a standalone crib when not attached to your bed and it's full of amazing features designed with parent-baby bonding in mind.
One thing to keep in mind is that while this crib is great for newborns, it won't last long once your baby turns six months old, so you will have to purchase a bigger cot. But, in general Roanna felt that the Joie Roomie Glide was a very good purchase and she especially liked its sleek design.
John Lewis sells the Roomie Glide for PS160. Roanna thought this was a fair price for such a cot. She liked how it was positioned in her bedroom and believed the grey color would work in the majority of modern homes. She did mention that it's not an ideal idea to rock a baby in the early years because it can cause a bad sleep pattern for later.
The Tutti Bambini CoZee
The Tutti Bambini CoZee
foldable bedside crib crib is designed to ensure the
best bedside cot sleep possible. It has a drop side rail that can be easily removed for feedings at night without having to wake your child or get up it's ideal for breastfeeding mothers! It's also lightweight, making it easy to move around the house during naps and for travelling.
We love that it's made of soft materials that have breathable mesh sides that promote airflow and comfort. It's available in charcoal and oak and comes with a variety of melange fabric options that blend well with most decor styles. Anna found that it was sturdy and secure after being affixed to her bed. The legs snapped into place and the zippers were secured for security. It took her around 10 minutes to put together and did not require tools, and comes with clear instructions and a video or support number available if you run into any issues.
The CoZee crib comes with all the features you would expect from a crib for your bedside, including the ability to connect it to your bed with a stay-in-place connection system. It also comes with six height settings. In addition it has an inclined feature that can be used to assist infants suffering from reflux or congestion. It is also machine-washable - a must for all the dribbles, vomit, and snot that come with a newborn baby!
If you're looking to keep your baby close during the first six months when they're able to go to sleep on their own, the CoZee is a great option as it can also be used as a standalone cot, changing table or toddler bed. It can also be transformed into a sofa bed with the addition of an extension pack. While it won't magically put your baby to sleep or feed them, it will rock the baby and take them to school.
The Chicco Next2Me Magic
This is one of Chicco’s more expensive alternatives. It does have a lot of great features. It's designed to function as an individual side sleeper or standalone crib, and is suitable from birth to six months. It has a new mechanism to open and close the side panel, and is easy to use even with one hand. It's also more adjustable than its predecessor with 11 different height levels as well as feet that retract to fit under any bed.
Our testers were impressed by the ease of access offered by the side panel, that can be moved up and down with one click of a switch. This was particularly helpful in the evening when feeding time was over, since they could reach inside and pick their baby up without waking them.
It is possible to lower the side panel itself but this is not advised, as it increases the risk that your child could be thrown out of the cot. The patented safety locking system guarantees that the side panel will remain in place when it is properly attached to the mattress of the parent. This feature can be very beneficial for peace of mind if you're breastfeeding and require frequent night feeds.
The Chicco Next2Me Magic is designed to be compatible with any bed that includes divan bases as well as beds with drawers, thanks to the legs that telescopic. It also comes with a tilting function to help babies who are refluxy and a rocking feature to help them sleep after feeding. It's also extremely large and has excellent ventilation thanks to its mesh sides.
Our testers found the Next2Me Magic easy to set up and use, though it does have quite lengthy instructions. It is a little heavier than other side-sleepers, but it's easily moved from one room to another. It's also small enough to fit into its travel bag when not in use which is a plus if you need to transport it. The only issue our test subjects found was that the side panel did not flex as much as some of the other models, making it difficult to see your baby from your bed.
The Shnuggle Air

If you're looking for an ideal bedside crib that can develop with your child, then the Shnuggle Air is definitely worth a look. Designed to be a co-sleeping bassinet that will attach securely to your bed, but can also transform into a stylish cot once your baby is ready. It's ideal for feeding at night and growing your bond with your infant.
The Shnuggle Air crib is designed to breathe, unlike some other models. Its dual-view mesh sides as well as the airflow mattress, which is hypoallergenic and breathable maximize airflow to keep your baby cool and comfortable. A gentle incline option helps to reduce colic and reflux, while the zip down side makes it easy to feed or comfort your baby at night.
The cot conversion kit (sold separately) is also well-designed, with clear instructions and everything you need to begin. It took us around an hour to assemble, and was fairly simple to put together. The only drawback was the lack of captions written on a few of the images which made it difficult to understand certain steps. However, it was a straightforward process and the quality of materials used was high.
In the co-sleeping mode, we discovered the Shnuggle Air to be an excellent choice for breastfeeding mums and women who have had a c-section because it lets them comfortably reach out to their baby for feeding and comfort without having to get up from their own bed. It's great for parents who don't want the burden of putting their infant in a traditional
cot for bedside or even getting them out of it.
The motion of gliding was found to be extremely helpful in lulling babies into sleep following meals at night or midday. The drop-down side is also accessible to feed or soothe babies during the middle of the night and was a major draw for our exhausted test moms. While it doesn't rock or have additional features like a sound machine the Joie Roomie Glide's sleek design and functional features are a welcome addition to our top crib reviews for bed.
