1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a good option for those looking for a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of having to empty their dust bin manually as it gets full.

Both robots excel at picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors, and they're excellent in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart maps of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. The i3+ isn't able to have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we tested. It may be stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between surfaces, such as hardwood and rug.

iRobot suggests that you clean up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or other items it may encounter. You should also keep the filters and dust bin clear to avoid becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning from where it left off. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes around three hours to fully recharge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most important feature of all -- it has a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint smart vacuum cleaner Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot with voice or via the app.

In our testing the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our second-placed model which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surface types, including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy it self vacuum near me-empties its dust bin, which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and reduces the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines and move around the room, and even vacuum an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected, to voice commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world full of cordless vacs that feel like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model feels like an automobile. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered with a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery, which produces energy that lasts for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets and collect large particles or fine dust. It has three suction modes to meet the task at hand. It swiftly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back again.

The model also comes with a dock that charges to 100% in around 3.5 hours and provides easy access to two attachments and the wand clip. This is a significant improvement over previous Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's biggest drawback is its sluggish run time. As CR's tests have shown, its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are not true. This is a typical, not an exceptional, run time for a battery-powered cordless vac. That's still enough run time to clean most of a typical-sized home however, it's not enough to clean every area (though the second time around usually does the trick). That's not to say this model isn't a good choice: It's lighter and mobile than the older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is significantly better on low-pile carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in the latest model of robot. It was able to pick up most types of debris and sizes during our tests and would often go over the same area several times to give an efficient clean. Its flat front end helps to get into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice addition.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it lacks the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models such as our top choices and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. This means that it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't as sturdy, and frequently runs out of battery power before making it back to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 in that it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower cost of recurring costs, has more advanced automation abilities and is better able to move its own. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries and can be controlled using your smartphone's voice assistance. It's also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and performs better on floors with low pile and bare.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

It's also a bit more expensive than some of the other models we tried which could be a deal-breaker for some shoppers.

Unlike other robotic vacuums, that are specifically designed for carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. They have an extra-wide cleaning path, and a dustbin that is 2X bigger than the competitors. This lets them clean the area for a longer period of time. They also have two side sweepers that can be used to clean along edges and corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also comes with AutoSense technology, which senses whether it's picking up dirt or debris on the surface and automatically adjusts its power level. It also comes with a smart app that lets you view the virtual map and control functions and schedules. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum and then send it to its dock for charging at the click of a button. The app also lets you to customize the LED lights on top of the vacuum using different colors, so you can easily identify what areas it's focusing on or where it's got stuck.

The app also makes it simple to steer the robot manually in the event of need. For instance my living room rug has a darkly colored border that has a tendency to make it difficult for other robots I've tried. However, the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border, but it didn't register it as a cliff. The ability to set up a weekly cleaning schedule is a fantastic time-saving feature.
