Top Rated Robot
vacuums robotA robot vacuum can keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency with which you have to manually vacuum. Pick a robot vacuum with good navigation, has the ability to clean corners and stairs and has large bins that only needs to be emptying every so often.
There are models that mop and charge themselves this is an option essential for families with pets or children. Many of the top performers in our tests also have good obstacle avoidance.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great choice for people who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but don't mind taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin when it fills up.
Both robots are adept in removing dirt and dust particles on hard floors and carpets and can navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean up efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we evaluated, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles which means it can get stuck on things like power cords or socks, and may have issues traversing transitions across surfaces, such as from hardwood to rug.
iRobot recommends clearing areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, which includes getting rid of any clutter or toys it might encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filter free of dirt to prevent them from getting blocked. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and empties the dirt into the station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning from where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for approximately an hour and a half continuous use, and takes around three hours to fully recharge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with all the latest features. It has self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is its self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for regular maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot using voice or through the app.
In our tests, the i7+ was more agile and faster than our top choice which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types, including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, is its self-emptying dustbin which removes a major source of maintenance and lowers the cost of maintenance.
We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning session, move itself around the room and vacuum a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After connecting we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world full of cordless vacs that feel like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model is an old-fashioned sports car. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in most homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system captures allergens and expels clean air back into your home. Its specialized cleaning head drives bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpets to trap large particles and fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to suit the task. It is able to swiftly switch from handheld to floor vacuum, and vice versa.
This model also has a dock that charges to 100% in around 3.5 hours, and gives users easy access to two attachments and a clip for a wand. This is a big improvement over older Dysons models, that require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The V10's biggest drawback is its short run time. Its marketing claims that it can last up to 60 minutes of running time are not true as CR's tests show. This is an average and not a remarkable time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. This is enough time to clean the average-sized home but not enough to reach every area. (A second pass is usually sufficient). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is significantly better on low-pile floor carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have lots of money to spend on a robot. It was able to remove all kinds of debris and sizes during our tests and would often go over the same area several times for an efficient clean. Its flat front side helps it reach into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice feature.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capability of more advanced models like our top selections and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. As a result, it may get stuck on things like phone cords and low furniture, and it often is power-depleted before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 because it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower recurring cost and has more advanced automation abilities and is able to better maneuver itself. It also has a larger dustbin and charges quicker.
The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most reasons, since it has a better battery life, the ability to change the suction power mode by hand, comes with physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a larger motor, and performs better on low-pile and bare floors.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's not a surprise, then, that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is loaded with cutting-edge onboard intelligence technology to aid in navigation and obstacles avoidance.
The app offers a variety of options to customize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings, and much more. The app is simple to use and understand as are other Samsung devices.
In our tests our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86 percent of it. However, it did not do particularly well in avoiding taller objects like cords and socks which was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than some of the other models we tried, which might be a deal-breaker for some buyers.
The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that can be accessed through the app. You can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you to keep track of your pets or kids when you're away from home. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned for the quick and easy cleaning. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with a
self cleaning vacuum-emptying clean station, which helps keep the robot's bin clear and maximizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been designed specifically for hard flooring. They feature an extra-wide cleaning path and an extra-large dustbin that holds twice as much debris than competitors to keep the area free of debris for the longest period of time. They also include two side sweepers for cleaning around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES model includes AutoSense which adjusts the power level depending on whether it's cleaning up surface dirt or embedded dirt. It also comes with a smart app that lets you browse the virtual map, and control the functions and schedules. Plus, you can monitor the vacuum's battery status and then return it to its dock for charging at the touch of one button. The app also allows you to customize the LED lights on the
top rated robot vacuum of the
remote vacuum cleaner by using different colors, so you can easily tell which areas it's focused on or where it's gotten stuck.
The app allows you to steer the robot manually in the event of need. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that has a tendency to cause confusion for other robots I've tried. However, the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border without registering it as a cliff. The ability to program weekly cleaning schedules is a great time-saving convenience.
