WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for the latter because of the requirement to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using a The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level in the event that there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the
item upgrading slot and the current
item upgrades level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an
item upgrader mod has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Many locations offer
Item level Upgrade upgraders in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and an issue.
In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player has upgraded to a certain level of
item upgrade for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if those items come from an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
Players have several options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the type or gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, dungeons or raids of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it will bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to get their gear up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
Another important modification is that crests have one use therefore it's essential to use them properly. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
