The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They feature motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model), they use smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. The robots that vacuum and mop also feature Carpet Boost, a feature that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept at cleaning dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you need to change the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum cleaners best vacuum/mop which could sweep the entire house with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competition's compact models this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive designs in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient however it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and dry mop pads.

The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the house based on how dirty these areas are.

For larger homes it's recommended to choose models with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house via the app or voice commands. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have number of furniture. Also, a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would imagine from its price. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or create an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app also provides access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
