Path of Exile
item upgrader mod Upgrades
Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can be a great source of additional damage and more AD or even more attaches.
In most cases, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade gear due to their high requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be used on weapons and armor items. They improve the stats of the item they're connected to. Armor upgrades are found in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using a specialist or higher salvage kits to salvage upgrade components from items.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it will absorb. A piece of armor upgraded to maximum upgrade level will boost the damage it absorbs. However, it's important be aware that this upgrade will increase its weight, causing it to weigh more than it was before.
There are a variety of armor upgrade available in the game. Each has a different impact. Certain upgrades give armor a greater amount of health points while others make it more powerful and lighter. The name of the armor upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade an
item level upgrade can be given, as illustrated below.
Certain upgrades require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which are indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Furthermore, some upgrades require a fee to use, and are shown by the "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are constantly updated or never expire depending on the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest way to improve your armor. You can locate it by exploring and looting small treasure chests. Titanium is more expensive, but can be found at the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied on high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide a significant improvement in stats and are worth the investment, particularly for one-handed weapons.
The player should be aware, however, that upgrading a piece to its maximum upgrade level can boost its defense. However, it will also decrease its agility and speed. For this reason, it is generally not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces beyond +9, since the defensive boost gained is usually not worth the additional weight and power costs of the upgrades needed.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of certain aspects of a weapon. For instance an upgrade could improve the damage that is caused by a shotgun's shells or the accuracy of the rifle sniper. Some weapons also have special enhancements that enhance their intrinsic capabilities. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases projectile acceleration for more damage).
The majority of upgrades for weapons require the use of a whetblade, or one of the three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of monsters and bosses.
To upgrade the weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain amount of bars. The more bars needed to complete an upgrade, the higher the level. If you have multiple upgrade materials the cost of upgrading will be less.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets has changed. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a certain number of Bars. You could continue to do this until you reach a maximum upgrade level for the equipment or weapon, after which upgrades would reset.
It's possible, but it relies heavily on RNG. You're better off buying gear with low levels of upgrade but with high base scores and stat distributions. These will have a better chance of bringing you the highest tier bonuses and blessings.
Most players will want to prioritize weapon upgrades for the weapons they use most frequently to allow them to progress faster. Additionally players, they should also consider upgrading the weapons that are most popular with their teammates to make them more powerful and effective. Shepard for instance, should upgrade the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more effective when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to increase the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects in weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is a method for making them, in which you combine gemstones with specific reagents on a table. The higher the level of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and, sometimes, by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also buy them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The Jeweler can enhance the quality of a gem in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ depending on the level the jewel is in when it's inserted into jewelry, weapons, or equipment.
The Jeweler can craft all tiers of gems, apart from the rare and legendary ones which you must be at a certain level to get. Jewels can be replaced with another jewel without damaging the original. However you can only swap out a jewel in an equipment piece once.
It is normal to use more jewelry to enhance the appearance of. Apart from improving performance, the diamonds create a surface that is harder than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots won't damage them as easily.
A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the appearance of your shields and weapons. These provide a small bonus and are able to be swapped easily however they aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other
upgrade item components like traits or aegis can't be exchanged, and can only be found with an Upgrade extractor or salvaging with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets can provide your hero with a variety of small, but valuable benefits. They can be acquired starting in the starter areas as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and through performing road interactions. They can be purchased from the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinket players will be able to unlock is the cloak. It gives a small, but useful bonus in speed of movement and the ability to evade. The player will then be able to acquire necklaces, amulets, and rings in a similar manner to how they acquired weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has an upgrade slot which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be put into any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and only works with certain types of trinkets.
These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't in combat. This enables the hero to be more effective while inactive and may also help make up for a lack of a solid team or any talent tree slots that normally are filled with the hero's ideal stats.
In general trinket upgrades should be prioritized over BiS (Best in Slot) items that you will not replace in the near future. Then, you should consider any items that have desirable statistics aren't as important as the iLevel of the
item upgrade to be upgraded. This is especially true if you want to
upgrade item multiple stats on an item. It's
Best item upgrade to upgrade just one crucial stat instead of two subpar ones.
Jungle players usually upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red trinket at the start of the game. Top and mid players on the other hand, will choose a green or a pink ward, based on the game's matchup. These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.
Aside from the things mentioned above, players can also find a number of other trinkets in the game in the form of trophies and awards. They can be obtained by completing certain milestones in the story. For instance, finishing a chapter’s main quest or beating a boss. You can check them out by selecting the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
