There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and can be used while you are at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be swapped for a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. 3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's compact models This mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to organize a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
